I’m the owner and professional body piercer at Artmageddon Piercing Studio in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
I’ve built Artmageddon around a fairly simple idea: piercing should be done properly.
That means taking the time to assess your anatomy, talking through your options, using jewellery I genuinely trust and never treating a piercing like something that just needs to be done as quickly as possible.
For me, a good piercing starts long before the needle comes out.
A studio built around doing things properly
I’m particular about what happens in my studio.
Piercings are carried out with single-use needles in a dedicated piercing environment, with professional sterilisation procedures and carefully selected jewellery suitable for initial piercing.
But good piercing is about more than being clean.
Placement matters. Anatomy matters. Jewellery choice matters. What you want matters too.
Sometimes that also means saying no.
If I don’t think a piercing is suitable for your anatomy, or I think there is a better way to achieve the look you want, I’ll tell you. I would rather lose a sale than perform a piercing I don’t believe is right for you.
That has always been an important part of how I work.
Jewellery is a huge part of what we do
Artmageddon has grown into far more than a studio with a cabinet of basic jewellery.
I carefully choose pieces from some of the best body jewellery makers in the world, including BVLA, Junipurr, Buddha Jewelry, Anatometal, NeoMetal, LeRoi and other specialist brands.
You’ll find implant-grade titanium alongside fine gold jewellery, genuine gemstones and pieces ranging from beautifully simple to properly extravagant.
I love helping people put jewellery together rather than simply choosing one isolated piece.
Sometimes that means finding the perfect tiny end for a fresh piercing. Sometimes it means working towards an entire ear that has been built gradually over several years.
There is no requirement to spend a fortune either. Good jewellery should start with safe materials and appropriate sizing. Everything after that is a personal choice.
You don’t need to know what you’re doing before you arrive
A lot of people come into the studio knowing exactly what they want.
Plenty don’t.
You might know you want another ear piercing but have no idea what would work with your anatomy. You might have seen a piece of jewellery you love but not know where it would suit you. You might simply be nervous and need someone to explain everything without making you feel ridiculous for asking questions.
That is part of my job.
I’ll talk you through the options, explain what I’m doing and give you straightforward advice.
There is no pressure to be heavily pierced, understand piercing terminology or already know the difference between every piercing you have seen online.
I want Artmageddon to feel different
I never wanted to create a studio where people feel processed.
Appointments have enough time for proper consultation. Jewellery is chosen for quality rather than because it is the cheapest thing I can buy in bulk. Aftercare is kept sensible. Check-ups and downsizing are part of the service rather than an afterthought.
The studio is professional, but it isn’t clinical in the way people sometimes imagine a professional piercing studio has to be.
You can ask questions.
You can be nervous.
You can change your mind.
And you can expect an honest answer from me, even when that answer isn’t necessarily the one that makes me the most money.
That, more than anything, is what I want Artmageddon to be known for.
